There Are More Reasons to Serve God than Just Going to Heaven…

My relationship with Jesus is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It isn’t perfect (on my end), but my life has become one of the most adventurous, purposeful, and has had more worth and meaning since I decided to stop fighting and running. But I didn’t just fall in love for Heaven. I didn’t just decide to be on His team just to save myself from going to hell. Those are both great reasons, but they weren’t the number one reasons. Getting saved just so you won’t go to hell is not a good enough reason. It’s a reason, but you miss the totality of who He is and all that He can be while you’re alive!

Being with Jesus has given me and shown me a love like no other. He makes me want to be better. I want to be a better Allyson because I love Him and I want Him to have the best of me.

In the past, when I would make dumb decisions, I wouldn’t think twice about them. It was what I wanted to do and I did it. With Jesus, He at least makes me think twice before doing something dumb or something that would me in a negative way. I think twice because He’s always on my mind, whether I know it or not. I want to please Him. I want Him to smile at me.

In my lowest moments, He always understands. He listens. If I can’t talk to anyone, He is the one I run to. It’s a beautiful love we have. He showed me my purpose. He showed me who I was born to be so I wouldn’t keep wandering, doing things that didn’t align with my destiny. He knows me. The very essence of who I am. Even the places and pieces I don’t get, He does. The ugly parts of my He embraces and showers with His love. He loves me through my pain. Catches every tear. Puts me in my place when I’m wrong and loves me as I make it right.

And these reasons and examples are just the tip of the iceberg. Make the decision to serve God and enjoy His presence NOW. Heaven will always be there, but knowing and having the ability to know and love God while you’re still alive is a joy all is own. He will lead and guide you and love you to the core of your being. There are sides of Him you’ve never even touched.

Get to know God for who He is now,  so that when you do get to Heaven, your praise and worship will be even greater because you know in this life and when you see Him face to face, that’s He’s the almighty, wonderful, amazing God you’ve always known.

He’s full of hope, joy and love. If you’re looking for any of those, please, look to Him.

Restraints

Restraints: (n) the act of restraining, holding back, controlling, or checking; the state or fact of being restrained; deprivation of liberty; confinement. (Dictionary.com)

I am at a place in my life, where I am trying to break free of every restraint that is holding me back from giving of my self to God. My first step has been to discover what the restraints are. Unfortunately, there are a few, and they are obstacles.

Two restraints that I have recognized that really affects the decisions that I make or have made have been:

People and Money

Now of course with the first one, the response is “Girl ignore those people!” But if you look within your own life, you’ll realize that it is easier said than done.

It goes beyond people making comments on the sly or people simply stating that they don’t agree. It contains the people who look at your resume. It contains people who are influential in your life. It contains people that actually make a difference in your life.

Last week, my husband and I were having a conversation about degrees. Now don’t get me wrong, having a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate are GREAT! But my question becomes “Why did you get those degrees?” Did you stay in school 6+ years so that you can earn the approval of people or because you loved that subject so much you wanted to spend multiple years studying it? Now if it’s the latter, I applaud you. You decided to stay and study because that’s what YOU wanted to do no matter who was going to look at your resume or not. That was what you wanted and you went for it. For those of you that are a part of the former statement, we need to have a conversation 🙂

When are we going to stop getting pieces of paper for the approval of someone else when it’s something we really don’t want to do? Now I know how hard we work for that piece of paper, but if you’re not invested in the piece of paper, why did you spend all that time going to school for someone else to be impressed if you aren’t even going to be impressed with it? Sleepless nights, hard work, blood, sweat, and tears has just gone into a piece of paper that you’re going to show to someone and still sit back and hope to God they even give you a job.

When are we going to stop doing things to make others look at us with approval? When will we begin to look inward for the approval we need? When will YOU be enough for you? When will you look at your own resume and be impressed? When will you simply look in the mirror and approve YOURSELF?

After my current job, I am determined to work for myself so that no one else has to look at my resume and approve of me again. I approve of me.  I approve of where I’ve been and what I’m doing. I approve what college I went to, my degree. And I am giving MYSELF a job because I’m the best candidate for the job!

On to the next restraint; money. The mean green. The root of all evil.

How long will we allow money to dictate what and when we do things? How long will money dictate when you will walk in your purpose? How long will money dictate when you will bring your dreams into reality?

Now of course we do need money to make things happen. It takes care of our daily needs like food and clothing, But it is not meant to dictate our purpose being fulfilled in the Earth. It is not meant to dictate when we will say yes to God.

I don’t want to keep making decisions based on my income. I don’t want to stay at a job I hate just because it pays good and I need the money and don’t know what else I can do to earn the same amount. I don’t want to keep putting the visions God has given me on hold because I don’t have the funds to start it. Money will not discourage me from moving in purpose. Money will NOT be my determining factor. Please don’t let it be yours.

Don’t let money dictate how you live your life. Don’t live safe because that’s all your paycheck allows you to do. God’s visions and plans for your life extend beyond your paycheck. Don’t let it run your life.

What are some of the other restraints you have in your life?

Where our Imagination Can’t Go …

I can admit that I have a very active imagination. There are moments that I can just sit and daydream about life ; where I want to be, who I want to be, and where I see myself going. But there are some places even my imagination Can’t go.

See a lot of my daydreams are about far away places or places that will take me a while to go to in my eyes. But What I ‘ve realized about my imagination is that Places that are very possible and very near are hard to imagine. Why ? Because its too real to imagine. I think that the closer we are to a possibility becoming a reality, the more we have to put away the dreaMs and the “If this happens” mentality. When we get closer to that reality, something in us must shift from “If this happens” to “When this happens”. when many of us get to this point, fear sets in because we never made plans for our dreams. why? Because the expectation was that they Would never come true…

So our dreams and imaginations never have depth and never move from their place in the sky because we assume that they will never come true. But who says they won’t? We may not be millionaires, but we can accomplish anything we put our minds to!!

Put the pen to paper! Start drafting your dreams!

I’ve never written a book before. I’ve never taken a class or been mentored by someone who did. But I believed that I had Something valuable to say and that others could learn from it. So I just started to write. I read 1 Short e-book on writing a book and just kept writing… and I finished! But I had to first believe in my own dream enough to sit down and write about it.

You can do this … whatever your “this” is … just decide that today You will take that dream and make it Come to life. Don’t live a life of Regret.

So You WANT To Be A Loser?

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. ~Marianne Williamson

Why do we voluntarily want to be losers? Why do we chose to be less than what we were created to be?

We work jobs just to pay bills. We tolerate awful relationships so that we won’t be lonely. We hang out with people whose vision is just as invisible as ours is… and yet we convince ourselves that we are doing great.

The quote above is one of my favorites. I’ve posted it in a previous post, but it always rings in my head. We’re afraid of our own power! We’re afraid that we are greater than we could ever imagine. We’re scared to step outside of the box we’ve been placed in because we won’t be with our friends or families. We want to be comfortable inside the box because that’s where everyone else is. But what good is that doing for you? You regret half the decisions you make, you’re angry with yourself for not doing better, and most of the time you don’t even like your life! DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

I don’t know about yall, but I’m tired of living just to be living. I’m tired of not making a great impact on the world around me. Who knows what will happen when I decide to live out my purpose and change the world around me? Who knows if when I step out and decide to be great, that others will believe that they too can be great?

WE CAN ALL BE GREAT!! We are filled with the amazing power of the Holy Spirit, which is God inside of us!

I’m talking about the same God that created the earth. I’m talking about the same God that gave Moses the power to part the sea. I’m talking about the same God who created every single person on this earth, whether they want to admit it or not. I’m talking about the same God who knew how to craft women’s bodies to birth a child on the inside. I’m talking about the same God that created all the different types of flowers, trees, birds, animals, fish, foods, and people.

That God lives on the inside of you and I! Which means that we have access to all that power! We can change nations! We can change lives! We can create and affect the places around us! We have the power to do so!

So why do we live mediocre, safe lives? Why are we afraid?

Let’s do better! Step outside of that comfort zone. Step out from among those who aren’t trying to do anything but eat, sleep, work, and die. Let’s stop pushing everyone else’s vision and make everyone else money, and let’s push our own vision and make our own money!

Stop Being a Loser.

Why Do You Do What You Do?

Isaiah 29:13 AMP

And the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips but remove their hearts and minds far from Me, and their fear and reverence for Me are a commandment of men that is learned by repetition [without any thought as to the meaning]

Why do you do what you do when it comes to God? Or even when it comes to your family, friends, spouse, and even yourself?

Is most of what you do or partake in because of something you learned and did because the person in front of you or on the television said was the right thing to do?  Did you run it by God to see if He even likes that?

Think about the cliché phrases we use in church. “Praises go up,  blessings come down”. We sit around quoting it like it’s the Word and it isn’t!  But we keep quoting it in our sermons because the preacher before us did.

What we say and do has become the norm in our churches and our lives… but only because we’ve been told it was the right thing to do AND because its what has always been done.

Within my generation, I hope to break down some of the religious repetition in our churches that brings NO FRUIT to the body of Christ. It’s time that we stopped the foolishness in the church. Its not saving anyone nor is it bringing any of our peers in our generation to Christ. Let’s stop being churchy for 5min to discuss the condition of our souls and our churches. We are the ones who have to carry the church on after our pastors and leaders die or retire. We honor and respect them for all they did,  but we’re being called to go HIGHER!
God is calling us higher! He wants to do MORE in our lifetime. More experiences, more miracles, signs, and wonders. Let’s break the cycle and move into the NEWNESS of God!

Psalm 40:3 AMP

And He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many shall see and fear (revere and worship) and put their trust and confident reliance in the Lord. [Ps. 5:11.]
